Dr Dilhara Vithanage DCPsych (UK), MSc (UK), FHEA
Chartered Counselling Psychologist
I am a HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist and Chartered Psychologist, and I provide high quality psychological therapy to adults (aged 18+). I specialise in treating PTSD and Complex PTSD. I work with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, problems with self-esteem stress and grief. My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practice.
Alongside my private work, I currently practise within the NHS, where I provide psychological assessments and therapy for individuals with complex trauma and personality-related difficulties. I also supervise trainee psychologists and work closely with multidisciplinary teams in community mental health settings.

In therapy, I take an integrative and trauma-informed approach. I draw from EMDR, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, and other models to tailor treatment to each person’s needs. My goal is always to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel understood, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes.

Over the past decade, in the UK, I have worked across NHS services, universities and in community organisations. Prior to that, I worked in Sri Lanka as a Lecturer in Psychology as well as a Psychologist. These experiences have strengthened my appreciation for cultural diversity and the many different ways people make sense of their lives, relationships, and emotional worlds.

I am currently offering online sessions. I am committed to walking alongside you at your own pace—helping you explore your experiences, develop new perspectives, and build a more grounded and fulfilling way of being.
